Damage and biology of box tree moth Cydalima perspectalis in Bartin

In this study, the biology and damage of Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) (Box tree moth), which causes damage to natural boxwood areas in the Bartın region and to boxwood in different parts of the city, were investigated. After the pest was first detected in 2011, it was observed that the damage to the boxwood fields in the Bartın region, where it started to appear in 2016, is quite intense and especially dries the boxwoods in the natural environment. In the form of harmful larvae, it causes damage by eating the leaves of the boxwood, spoiling the aesthetic appearance. The biological periods of the pest were tried to be followed in its natural environment and laboratory conditions. For this purpose, the larvae brought to the laboratory were taken into feeding containers and followed. It has been determined that the pest has 3 generations in the Bartın region.
