Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to conduct a sociological analysis of the concept of Transhumanism, which has become equipped with technology as a radicalization of humanism, within the context of cinema sociology. With the Enlightenment movement, placing reason and science at the center of human nature has become the fundamental goal of societal progress. While the prominence of reason and science began with the Renaissance and Reformation movements, it reached its peak during the Enlightenment Era. The questioning of traditional norms in the light of science has paved the way for transformation in many societal aspects. It can be said that advancements in technology are at the forefront of these transformations. Technology, which has been a dominant actor in societal change, has been influential in the transformation of philosophical concepts since the second half of the 20th century. It can be said that the concept of humanism has evolved into a new concept, Transhumanism, under the influence of technology. Transhumanism aims to elevate life standards by targeting the transformation of human life alongside evolving technology. With the changing standards of living, the Transhumanism movement also aims at the transformation of society, suggesting the possibility of constructing a new social order. The concept of Transhumanism, which carries a scientific fiction quality, can be analyzed not only through existing literature but also through certain science fiction films. In this study, the concept of Transhumanism discussed is approached through the lens of cinema sociology, employing semiotic analysis
