Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted in the oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) forest which its horizontal spread is within the borders of Sinop-Türkeli Forest Management Directorate while the vertical spread is between 450-900 meters. For this intended purposes the research ground included altitude-climate zones (400m-600m, 600m-800m, 800m-1000m) and considering the aspect (north-south) 55 sample plots the size of 400m2. For each tree to be cut within the sample ground, the various stages of tree height and diameter, the different habitats within various development stages and canopy degree, aliveness, strength of the top, number of the shaft and health was considered. The sample trees were cut from the ground level and by dividing into divisions sections were taken. In addition, as a representative of sample trees and branches was selected and after this branch's fresh weight was determined by separating the twig from the leaves the fresh twig and leaves weight was determined with a precision scale. Then the samples from the twig and the leaves were brought to the laboratory within polyethylene bags. On the samples, biomass and carbon storage examinations were made. According to result of this study, it was concluded that the 74,4% of the biomass belonged to the stem wood while 13,3% branch, 7,4% bark and 1.8% leaves followed in suit. A similar situation can be seen in terms of carbo storage. Because the highest value of stored carbon continents is obtained within the stem wood with a value of 78% while the branch (13%), the bark (7.3%) and the leaves (1.8%) followed in suit. Both biomass and carbon storage equations are given in the relevant section. Our results also revealed that altitude significantly effect above ground biomass and carbon storage of the different part of the trees. On the other hand, we didn't determine significantly relationships among exposure, biomass and carbon storage.
