Investigation of factors affecting readopathic participation and quality of life in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia

One of the psychosocial approaches for mental health and diseases is occupational therapy interventions and the accompanying occupational participation. This study includes the examination of the factors affecting ocupational participation and quality of life in individuals with schizophrenia. While 16 of the participants in the study were sick, 16 were healthy. 13 were female and 19 were male. 12 people are single, 17 people are married, 2 people are divorced and 1 person lives separately. 4 people are primary school graduates, 1 person is primary/secondary school graduate, 6 people are high school graduates, and 21 people are college/university graduates. While 23 people are working, 9 people are not working. While 8 people have a psychiatric disorder in their family, 24 people do not. While 20 people use cigarettes/substances, 12 people do not. The mean age of the participants was 36.63±11,077. According to the results of the study; As a result of the independent groups t-test performed to compare the activity-role balance scores of the participants according to their disease status, no statistically significant differences were found between them (p>0.05). As a result of the independent groups t-test performed to compare the World Health Organization quality of life scores according to the disease status of the participants, statistically significant differences were found between them (p<0.05). As a result of the independent groups t-test performed to compare the Canadian activity performance scores according to the disease status of the participants, statistically significant differences were found between them (p<0.05). As a result of the independent groups t-test performed to compare the human activity role model screening tool scores according to the disease status of the participants, statistically significant differences were found between them (p<0.05). As a result, in our study, it has been shown that ocupational participation and quality of life are low in individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, and the importance of improving these areas with occupational therapy interventions in terms of increasing the level of independence in daily life, positively affecting health perception, reducing the length of hospital stay and social participation has emerged.
