Role of practice of developing and using in class teaching activities on the professional development of classroom teachers

In this study, practices of developing in-class teaching activities and implementing them at schools with the classroom teachers working at Atabey and Güçlü Primary Schools in Söke Town of Aydın Province were conducted and the study aimed to reveal the opinions of the participant classroom teachers about its contribution to their professional development.The study, for which quantitative data was collected, was carried out in 2011-2012 school year. Research lasted for six weeks and was carried out with the participation of four volunteer classroom teachers. In order to be able to reveal the opinions of research participants, the journals the participants kept after the in-class teaching activities, the voice records of the interviews carried out with the participants after developing and implementing in-class teaching activities and the notes taken in the observations during the process of development and implementation of the activities by the researcher were analyzed and evaluated with the content analysis method.According to the results of the research, four participant classroom teachers stated that they learned new things in a professional sense thanks to the practices of developing in-class activities and implementing them in their classrooms, that their professional communication increased even more and that they obtained positive results in terms of moral and incentive. All the four participants had a positive approach in terms of the professional development of in-class teaching studies.When the findings of the research were evaluated, it was concluded that the practices of developing and implementing in-class teaching activities would develop the professional skills of the teachers and increase their communication with their colleagues and when all of these were taken into consideration, that the teachers would progress professionally.
