Examination of the digital competencies of classroom teachers. (Afyonkarahi̇sar sample)

The main purpose of this research is to determine the digital competencies of classroom teachers and examine them according to certain variables. In the context of this purpose, a quantitative research was conducted using the survey model with 275 classroom teachers who were actively working in Afyonkarahisar in the 2021-2022 academic year and voluntarily participated in the research. "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher and "Digital Competence Scale for Educators" developed by Redecker (2017) and adapted to Turkish conditions by Toker et al. (2021) were used as data collection tools in the research. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA test were applied. It was concluded that the digital competence levels of classroom teachers were at the "Integrative (B1)" level according to the DigCompEdu (Digital Competencies Framework for Educators) evaluation criterion. When evaluated in terms of sub-dimensions, it was determined that classroom teachers were at the Explorer (A2) level, which is the second level of digital competence, in the sub-dimensions of Use of Digital Skills in the Profession, Teaching-Learning and Facilitation of Students' Digital Competencies. It was concluded that they were at the Integrative (B1) level in the subdimensions of Digital Resources, Evaluation and Empowerment of Students. This value accepts the participants in the "Integrator" status according to the scoring key. According to the results of the research, while there was no significant difference in terms of the variables of classroom teachers' gender, age, field of graduation, seniority, place of duty and daily internet usage time, a significant difference was found in terms of the variables of educational status and receiving training on the use of digital resources.
