Abstract (EN)

Curriculum fidelity is crucial for ensuring that the educational process proceeds as planned and that the intended learning outcomes are achieved. Teachers' level of fidelity directly influences the effectiveness and applicability of the curriculum. Therefore, examining teachers' attitudes toward the curriculum, the challenges they face, and their approaches to implementation provides valuable insights for the development of the education system. This study aimed to determine the curriculum fidelity levels of primary school teachers and to examine their views on the factors influencing their fidelity. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods design with concurrent triangulation. During the spring semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, quantitative data were collected from 304 primary school teachers working in Ağrı province and its districts through the "Curriculum Fidelity Scale." Qualitative data were obtained from semi-structured interviews conducted with 26 teachers selected through maximum variation sampling. Quantitative findings revealed that primary school teachers demonstrated a high level of curriculum fidelity. Their fidelity levels did not significantly differ according to age, seniority, or gender. Qualitative findings indicated that while some teachers adhered strictly to the curriculum, others made certain adaptations. Teachers generally welcomed curriculum updates (such as simplification, values education, and skill orientation); however, they reported difficulties related to limited time, workload, and lack of guidance. Overall, teachers regarded the curriculum as a reliable and guiding source for their professional development, adopting approaches such as adapting lessons to student needs, using materials, and linking content to daily life. Based on the findings, it is recommended that teachers' opinions be considered in curriculum development and implementation processes, that continuous in-service training be provided, and that teachers be supported with instructional materials and technological resources.
