Examining the Opinions of Elementary and Preschool Teachers on Effecting Factors on Writing Skills of Students The factors which affect writing involve cognitive, psychomotor and affective development. Cognitive domain can be described as student's transfer of his/her knowledge to writing after a mental process. Variables like holding pencil, position of paper, sitting position and muscle development constitute psychomotor domain. Affective domain of writing involves variables like student's liking of wtiting and niceness of his/her writing. This is a qualitative study which aims to analyse opinions of pre-school and primary school teachers about factors that affect writing. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview form including 12 questions. Working group of the study includes class teachers (n=6) and pre-school teachers (n=5) working Çeltik county of Konya. According to the opinions of teachers, ten factors that affect writing were found. Some findings like holding a pencil correctly means using of thumb, index and middle finger, the desks in the class must match the physical characteristics of students, teachers should set an example if student uses pencil incorrectly, giving reinforcer, observing, pre-school education's being important for holding pencil, paper's position can be downward or upright during writing were found.
