Abstract (EN)
The origins of the science of qırāʾat, which studies the differences in the recitation of the words of the Qur'ān, date back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad. This tradition has been passed down from generation to generation through oral transmission, and various journeys undertaken for the sake of knowledge have ensured the spread of this method. The science of qırāʾat has had its adherents and practitioners in every period, and this science has been transmitted from teacher to student through a chain of transmission, reaching us today. The institution of memorisation, another form of Qur'ānic education, has also been transmitted through the same method. It is evident that practical applications are more important than theoretical knowledge in this transmission. The most obvious examples of practical applications are the'sema,' 'arz,' and 'edâ' methods that have been used throughout the history of Qur'ān and recitation education. It is a fact that in order to keep the Qur'ān, which is the word of Allah, free from misreadings, it must be learned from a "fem-i muhsin" master. One of these masters was the recently deceased Qur'ānic reciter and hâfız Ibrahim Tanrıkulu, and the main subject of our research is the life and views and practices of Ibrahim Tanrıkulu regarding Qur'ānic education. Within this framework, the main objective of our study is to reveal his educational method and to contribute to its transmission to future generations. In this regard, the first section of our thesis lays the foundation for the subject by explaining some concepts related to the science of recitation. The second section discusses the life, personality traits, teachers, and students of hâfız Ibrahim Tanrıkulu. In the third section, his educational method is examined based on information obtained from his close associates and students. Ultimately, it is observed that Ibrahim Tanrıkulu primarily applied traditional educational methods, while also incorporating modern approaches to Qur'ān and recitation education to some extent.
