Type features of the epic heroes of Şor

Heroic epics have an important place among the verbal yields of Şor. In terms of content, it includes the traditions, thoughts, perspectives, expectations, attitudes of the people, the history of the nation, and cultural assets. It gathers this mission within the central hero and creates an ideal value that he carries. The central hero shows type characteristics by acting in accordance with these expectations and values. The research, which deals with the characteristics of this type formed by the central hero, consists of five chapters, excluding the introduction. In the first part of the research, general information about the history, population, language, economic structure and the region where Shor Turks lived was given. In the second part, the term epic was examined and the tradition of performing epics in other Turkish tribes was explained, and then the performance tradition of the Şor Turks, which was the subject of the study, was researched. In the third part, the studies on the concept of type in literary work and the characteristics of the type were examined in order to limit the research subject a little more, in the fourth part, the epic hero type characteristics of the Shor Turks, which are the main subject of the study, were determined in items and translated into contemporary Turkish in Metin Ergun's "Sor Heroism Epics". The heroes in the translated texts of the fifteen epics were determined by the classification made under the title of central hero type and subtype. A total of nineteen type characteristics, eight of which are natural and eleven are behavioral, of the central hero have been identified. In addition, the category suitable for the type characteristic of each epic hero is shown with a table, making the subject more understandable. In the subtype category, a different classification method was used and dynamic and passive subtype classification was made. In the conclusion part, the findings of the research were determined. With this research, it is aimed to reflect the attitudes and behaviors of the central hero in the epics of the Shor Turks, as well as the perception, point of view and mental world of the society. The research made it possible to make a comparison between the epics of the Shor Turks and other Turkish tribes, to evaluate the epic texts from a holistic perspective and contributed to the studies in this field.
