Local government services within disabled individuals: Case of Tepebaşı municipality

This study is a descriptive study for the disabled and their families living in Tepebaşı Municipality. In this study, which is about theim plementations of municipalities for disabled people, witht heconcept of disability, them eaning and values attributed to disability from history to the present day and social municipality issues are discussed. Theaim of thisstudy is to examine the activities (transportation, social, cultural, sporting, getting an occupation and education etc.) carried out by themunicipalities for disabled individuals and families with disabled individuals in thecase of Tepebaşı Municipality, and to inform both citizens and disabled individuals. The main problem of the research is whether the disabled individuals and their families have sufficientin formation about the services and right sprovided to themby Tepebaşı municipality. Qualitative research technique wasused in the research. 35 people living in Tepebaşı Municipality were interviewed on a voluntary basisand a total of 20 disabled in dividualsand their families were asked four questions regarding the service sprovided by the Tepebaşı Municipality for the disabled individuals After the interviews, it was seen that disabled individuals and their families were aware of the services and employment opportunities provided by the Municipality of Tepebaşı for the disabled, and were satisfied with these services. In addition, it was understood that the participants had expectations about increasing the number of health, sports and cultural service sprovided by the Municipality of Tepebaşı, reducing the problems they experienced in transportation and increasing the awareness of other individuals who share life with disabled people.
