Teaching the value of savings with creative drama at the level of 4th grade in social studies lesson

Values education is very important for preserving the current structure of society and transferring the necessary cultural codes to future generations. Nowadays the use of excessive and unconscious dissemination of coverage resources can be associated within the scope of saving value of evaluation of values. It is seen that it is important to transfer values with an understanding of education in which individuals are placed at the center of the learner from a young age. The correlation between creative drama and values education is one of the teaching that offers an object-centered education approach to students. Starting with the correlation between Social Studies course and values education, the purpose of this research is teaching the use and effectiveness of the creative drama on savings assessment throughout the 4th grade. The aim in the research is, making of workshops for teaching with the creative drama method, which is expressed at the end of an active learning process, the performance of these workshops, the presentation of value teaching methods and creative drama techniques in a harmonious manner. In this research for action research design of this group, qualitative research method was used. The study group of the research consists of 15 students from Sultanhanı Atatürk Primary School 4/A class located in the district where the researcher can have easily accessible data. In the research, data collection tools, observation, document and interview were used. In accordance with the purpose of the research, eight creative drama applications were made, and semi-final interviews were held with the children before and after the application. Student responses for the analysis of moral dilemmas from the qualitative data of the research was evaluated according to Kohlberg's level of moral reasoning. In addition, data were obtained from the student comments during the creative drama workshops, the student expressions used in the activities, and the drama instructor's diaries. In this context, evaluations were made regarding their creative drama and personal development related to savings. Content analysis was used in the data analysis of the research. As a result it is seen that the students of creative drama have positive attitudes towards moral personal characteristics of saving values, the students have knowledge about the concepts related to saving value and increase of their awareness. In this context, creative drama workshops which is related to saving value, is recommended to be applied in different values and ages.
