Student opinions on the use of social studies workbooks

The main purpose of this research is to examine the views of students about the social studies workbooks used in the course to provide effective teaching of social studies by providing concrete experiences to the students. In this context, Şemsettin Karahisari Secondary School, Kadınana Secondary School, Hamidiye Secondary School, Mecidiye İmam Hatip Secondary School, Çayırbağ Secondary School, Erenler Secondary School, Şehit Sami Çiftçi Secondary School and Şehit Sami Çiftçi Secondary School in the 6th and 7th graders in the 6th and 7th grades were included in this study. as selected. A total of 731 students participated in the study. Of these, 367 were sixth graders and 364 were seventh graders. Here, a Likert-type questionnaire was used to collect data from the students. After examining the survey results of the students, it was concluded that the students wanted to study the Social Studies course with more visual and auditory elements, and with more field trips, the Social Studies Workbooks should consist of observation based questions in these fields and the workbooks should be used in active learning. In the Social Studies courses, where a lot of visual and auditory elements are needed, observation areas should be included in the workbooks, and areas where the student can be more active should be created by giving more space to the activities in which the student is active. Thus, permanent learning can be increased and contributed to the formation of environments where students can create their own learning styles according to their level.
