Graduate school of social sciences investigation of teaching candidates' teaching performance levels for geography

The aim of this study is to determine the self-efficacy levels of social studies teacher candidates studying in Aksaray, Hacı Bektaş Veli, Kırıkkale and Necmettin Erbakan universities in Central Anatolia. The study was carried out on 515 randomly selected students from the departments of social studies teaching at Aksaray, Kırıkkale, Necmettin Erbakan, Hacı Bektaş Veli universities in 2018-2019 academic year. Relational screening models are research models aiming to determine the existence and / or degree of change between two and more variables. Scale form of Şimşek (2016) was used as data collection tool. In the first part of the scale, demographic questions determining the personal status of the students were used to determine the self-efficacy levels of the social studies teacher candidates for geography, and the self-efficacy level of the social studies teacher candidates for geography was used in the first part of the scale. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS program. Independent t-test and one-way analysis of variance were considered appropriate if the data showed normal distribution for comparisons. In order to determine the differentiation status of self-efficacy levels of social studies teacher candidates according to the variables, t test was applied. According to this study, self-efficacy levels of social studies teacher candidates towards geography were very high "I strongly agree‟. However, as a result of item analysis, it is seen that the self-efficacy levels of pre-service teachers differ in terms of their average scores and percentage values.
