Review of social studies teachers opinion about the distance education process

Abstract (EN)
This research was done with the aim of analyzing of Social Studies Teachers' opinions on progress of Distance Education. Research is designed in phenomenology pattern from qualitative research methods. Study group of research consists of 26 Social Studies Teacher who work in private and state secondary schools in province center and districts of Şanlıurfa. Maximum variation sample from aimed samples was used in determining of the research group. As a data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form prepared by taking expert opinion was used, and the data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis, presented in tables and presented with frequencies, and supported by direct quotations. As a result of the research; Social Studies teachers' views on the distance education process applied in the Covid-19 epidemic, the advantages of the distance education applications applied in the Covid-19 epidemic. Social Studies teachers; the distance education process applied in the Covid-19 epidemic; evaluated in terms of teacher, technical problems, student, communication, Şanlıurfa, education-teaching process, health. Social Studies teachers say that distance education negatively affects the academic success of students, cannot replace face-to-face education, causes social, psychological, mental and physical health problems, but distance education reduces the cost in education, is effective in protecting students and teachers from Covid-19, and in education. They emphasized that the concept of time and space was eliminated. Social studies teachers stated that the distance education applied in the Covid-19 epidemic will have positive results if the technology is used correctly, the infrastructure deficiencies are eliminated, the tools that enable students to conduct distance education are provided, the applications that enable distance education are increased, so that in case of a similar epidemic in the future. They stated that education will continue without interruption, in a more successful, active and more intense manner, and that distance education will be blended with face-to-face education and take its place in our education system from now on.
