Structure of the Social Security Agency and informal employment

Informal economy means economic activities carried out without complying with the rules established in the legal framework. The leading element of the informal economy is informal employment. Informal employment, which varies according to the economic structure of the countries, is mostly; It finds living space due to economic and administration policies such as tax burden, population growth, unemployment. It is the Social Security Institution that struggles in our country to prevent this unregistered employment, which is caused by employers not reporting their monthly bonus services incompletely or not reporting them at all. In order to prevent the problem of unregistered employment, legal and administrative measures are taken, incentives are made for registered employment, and it tries to achieve this with the short and long-term insurance branches provided by the Social Security Institution to the active and passive insured, especially with the laws numbered 4447, 4857, 5084, 5510 and 5921. In the study, it has been revealed with which stages social security started in the world and in Turkey and how it was revised in the process until today. The situation causes and consequences of unregistered employment, especially after 2006, are discussed.
