Social media and online self-presentation: An investigation of Instagram users' self-presentation

Abstract (EN)

With the development of new media, social media has facilitated communication between people in daily life and Decimated the time and space difference. In addition, the innovations brought by social media have brought about changes in the lives of online users. Along with the fact that there are photo and video sharing features on social media platforms, making it easier to interact with followers, users can present their own selves on social media environments in order to get likes with their shares and increase the number of followers. This situation has brought about an increase in self-presentation with the increase in the use of social media. Instagram, which has come to the fore with its photo and video sharing feature from social media platforms, has been one of the channels that has enabled this situation to spread rapidly. In this study, new media, social media and self-presentation are explained in a conceptual way. Then, an online survey was conducted with 366 people to measure the self-presentation of Instagram users. Instagram Story sharing research findings with the presentation of the self in the Instagram post did not show any difference between firmness and the frequency of sharing. Instagram Decency Another result is that a significant differentiation was observed between Instagram self presentation and Instagram usage time and number of friends. Instagram sharing frequency Decisively showed a significant difference between the duration of Instagram usage and the gender of the user. Another result is that it has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the educational levels of the participants and the number of friends. Dec.
