The mediating role of strategic agility in the effect of social capital on firm performance

The aim of this research is to find out the effect of social capital on organizational performance and whether strategic agility has a mediating role in this effect. The population of the research is the companies producing in organized industrial zones in Turkey. According to the data of the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK), the number of companies operating in these regions is 5,725. A survey form consisting of four sections, prepared in accordance with the purpose of the study, was sent to 750 companies. 482 people responded to the surveys. In the first part of the survey form, it was aimed at collecting demographic information and information about companies with nine statements. The second part of the survey included the social capital scale, consisting of three dimensions and seventeen statements. In the third section, the organizational performance scale consisting of two dimensions and eight statements is included, and in the fourth section, the strategic agility scale consisting of three dimensions and thirteen statements is included. According to the findings, it was determined that social capital had a statistically significant and positive effect on organizational performance. It has been observed that the structural and relational dimensions of social capital have a statistically significant and positive effect on the customer retention dimension of organizational performance. It has been determined that the structural and cognitive dimensions of social capital have a statistically significant and positive effect on the innovation performance dimension of organizational performance. It was concluded that strategic agility has a partial mediating role in the effect of social capital on firm performance. It has been observed that social capital has a statistically significant and positive effect on strategic agility, and strategic agility has a significant and positive effect on organizational performance.
