The examination of the relationship between academic achievements and academic self-efficacy of university students in the area of sport sciences

This study aims to examine the relationship between academic achievements and academic self-efficacy of university students in the area of Sport Sciences. In 2019-2020 Academic Years, a total of 455 undergraduate students who have been studying in the area of Sport Sciences participate this study. Six question personal info form and thirty three items academic Self-efficacy Scale have conducted to participants. The program SPSS 21 has been used to analyze the data. The level of significance in the analyses considers for p<0,05 and p<0,01. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test calculator is used to determine whether a distribution of the data that matches the characteristics of a normal distribution. To these results, it is determined that data do not perform the characteristics of a normal distribution. Mann-Whitney U test is applied to compare gender-related academic self-efficacy of participants. The Kruskal-Wallis test is applied to compare age, academic department, level of welfare, and GANO. LSD Test is applied to determine the statically significant difference among the groups. On the other hand, Spearman Correlation Test analyzes whether the statically significant relationship between the academic self-efficacy of participants and GANO. Consequently, it has been determined that the students with a higher level of academic self-efficacy also have a high-grade point average and female students have significantly higher self-efficacy strengths compared to male peers.
