Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between university students' use of social media and the levels of cyber victimization and cyberbullying. The study was carried out using the general screening model. The study was carried out with 306 students studying at Hitit University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Physical Education and Sports, Sports Management, Coaching Education and Recreation departments in the 2022-2023 academic year. The "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher was used to collect the data. In addition, the "Social Media Usage" scale and the "Cyber Victimization and Cyber Bullying" scale were used. The data obtained from the participants were transferred to the SPSS 25 package program. Whether the data obtained in the study showed normal distribution or not was evaluated with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. As a result of the normality test, it was concluded that the data were normally distributed. In the study, it was determined that there was no significant difference between the participants' social media usage levels and the variables of the department, class, age, gender, device they used and following with people they did not know. However, it has been determined that there is a significant difference in the variables of social media usage levels, the time they spend on social media and the frequency of sharing. When cyber victimization and cyberbullying situations and class variables are examined, it has been determined that there is a significant difference between cyber victimization and cyberbullying and class level in SDM (F-Y) and SSM (F-Y) sub-dimensions. It was determined that there was no significant difference in the sub-dimensions of BGM (B-Y), SDZ (B-Y), KGZ (B-Y), and SSZ (B-H). When the participants' cyber victimization and cyberbullying variables, vii age, gender, device used, duration of social media usage, and following with strangers were examined, it was determined that there was no significant difference. In the variable of sharing frequency of the participants, a significant difference was found between cyber victimization and cyberbullying in the KGM sub-dimension. It has been determined that there is no significant difference between the average scores of the participants' social media use and the mean scores of cyber victimization and cyberbullying.
