The investigation of time perspectives of university students received sport training with regards to some veriables

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the time perception of the students from School of Physical Education and Sports and some of their demographical variables. The sample group consists of the students from the School of Physical Education and Sports at Erzincan University, Atatürk University, Dumlupınar University, and Karadeniz Technical University in 2015. To collect data, Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (Zimbardo and Boyd, 1999) were used. Frequency (f) and percentage (%) were used to demonstrate the participators' demographic distribution, and Shapiro-Willk test was applied to determine whether the data had a normal distribution. In order to test the hypotheses, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H, and correlation test were performed. According to the research result, a significant difference between time perception dimensions and gender, department, and level of income was not found. There is a significant difference between time perception dimensions except Past-positive and class level, also between time perception dimensions except Past Negative and universities. Among the university students training sports, "middle", "low, and "very low" correlations in the same direction among time perception sub-dimensions for Amateur athletes; "middle", "low", and "very low" correlations in the same direction for Professional athletes; "high", "middle", and "low" correlations in the same direction for National athletes; and "middle" and "low" correlations in the same directions for the Other athletes were determined. Besides, a "middle, "low", and "very low" correlation in the same direction and a "very low" correlation in the converse direction between the levels of sportive success of the university students receiving sport education- Professional, Amateur, National and Others- and time perception sub-dimensions were found.
