Özet (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine the aggression levels of students who participated in and did not participate in school sports in terms of various variables. The study group of the research consisted of 600 students studying in three different secondary schools in the city center of Amasya in the 2018-2019 academic year. The students participating in the study were divided into two groups as participated (n=300) and not participated (n=300) in the school sports. Information about the sociodemographic characteristics of the students participating in the study was obtained by using the Personal Information Form created by the researcher and the Aggression Inventory developed by İpek İlter Kiper to measure their aggression levels. Following the verification of the factor structure of the scale in secondary school students, normal distribution analysis was performed by performing skew and kurtosis analysis in the analysis of the data and it was determined that the data showed a normal distribution. T test for independent samples and one-way analysis of variance in multiple group comparisons were used. When we look at the research findings, the destructive aggression and passive aggression levels of middle school students who don't do sports were found to be statistically significantly higher than those who do sports (p< 0,05). It was found that the assertiveness levels of individuals who do sports are significantly higher than those who do not do sports (p< 0,05). There was no significant difference between the aggression levels of the students doing individual sports and team sports (p> 0,05). When we look at the gender scores of the students, the destructive and passive aggression levels of the male students were found to be significantly higher than that of the female students (p< 0,05). There was no significant difference between the assertiveness levels of female and male students (p> 0,05). As a result, sports are thought to be an important factor in preventing aggressive behavior.
