Abstract (EN)
With the development of technology, many viewers have started to watch sports competitions using various media. This process, which can be considered as " a transition from the stadium to the digital environment", represents high preference of sports fans for digital media and technology. This study was conducted to determine the preference, the level of preference and the reasons for the preference for second screens during live sports competitions. In this context, two different data collection methods were adopted and analyzed separately. In the first stage of the study, individuals' second screen usage purposes and habits were evaluated according to social/behavioral, cognitive and emotional dimensions through an online survey. In the second stage, it was aimed to determine the place of the information obtained in the first stage in the application process, and in this direction, a mobile application was installed on mobile phones, which is the second screen that individuals declared that they use frequently, and it was determined how long and for which purpose mobile phones were used during live sports broadcasts. The sample of all phases of the research consisted of individuals who have been regularly following football competitions for the last 12 months and who watch live competitions at least 1-2 times a week, while the sample group of the first phase consisted of (n=344) individuals and the sample group of the second phase consisted of (n=22) individuals. As a result of the research, it was determined that the vast majority of individuals who watched live football competitions used a second screen during the competition, the most commonly used second screen was the mobile phone, and the most common purposes of secondary screens were games, social media and messaging applications.
