Abstract (EN)

This study was planned to examine the relationship between metacognitive awareness and psychological resilience in athletes and aimed to examine the metacognitive awareness and psychological resilience levels of athletes in terms of various variables such as gender, educational status, branch and sports age. For these purposes, Athlete Information Form, Metacognitive Awareness Inventory and Brief Psychological Resilience Scale were used as data collection tools. A total of 348 athletes, 138 women and 210 men, participated in the study voluntarily. SPSS 17.0 package program was used during the statistical analysis phase. As a result of the One Sample T Test conducted using the recommended evaluation criterion (2.5) to determine the metacognitive awareness levels of the athletes, it was found that the average metacognitive awareness level of the athletes was significantly high. In terms of gender variable, male athletes' psychological resilience scores were found to be higher than female athletes, while no difference was found in terms of metacognitive awareness level. As a result of the correlation analysis conducted to examine the relationship between metacognitive awareness and psychological resilience, significant relationships were observed between all sub-dimensions of psychological resilience and metacognitive awareness. Key Words: Athletes, Metacognitive Awareness, Psychological Resilience
