Sector-based analysis of access to funding sources for startup enterprises

It is evident that startups have a great deal of potential in an era where business models, competition, growth, and innovations have become increasingly important to economic and technological development. However, a startup faces various difficulties depending on financial and human conditions until it turns into a profit-making company from the initial startup stage. Among these difficulties, the most critical point that makes the development of the startup negative and can stop its commercial and even vital activities stands out as its access to financial resources. In this study, the effect of sectoral-based geographical location on the access of startups to financial resources and the situation of startup investments in economic crises were examined. This study seeks to determine how sectoral differences affect startup funding in a globalizing world and how geographic boundaries affect startup funding. Although globalization has provided an advantage to less developed ecosystems, such as Turkey, a sectoral clustering has emerged in the US and European startup ecosystems. It has been concluded that access to financial resources is more advantageous in these regions with clustering, and that health, fintech and software sectors are more advantageous in accessing financial resources by protecting them from risks in global crises.
