The effect of static and dynamic core training on swimming performance and motoric skills

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of static and dynamic core training programs on swimming performance and motoric features in swimmers. In the analysis of the data, while the anthropometric measurements of the static training group showed only a significant improvement in height parameter (p<0,05), no significant improvement was observed in body weight, chest, waist, hip circumference, VYY, VBK, GYY, GYK parameters (p>0,05). In the control training group, only a significant difference was found in the YBK (p<0,05). There was no significant improvement in body weight, chest, waist, hip circumference, VYY, VBK, GYY, GYK parameters (p>0,05). Static and dynamic training groups show a significant changing in all motoric performance parameters (p<0,05). In addition, it was revealed that there was a significant increase in arm movement speed, plank, long jump and hand grip strength in the control training group, and there was no significant difference in the variables of sit access (flexibility), vertical jump, 30s shuttle and flamingo balance test. When swimming performances were analyzed, it was determined that there was a significant decrease in the swimming performance time of 25, 50 and 100 meters in the static and dynamic training group (p<0,05). In the control training group, while there was a significant decrease in swimming performance time of only 100 meters (p<0,05), there was no significant difference in swimming performances of 25 and 50 meters (p>0,05). Consequently, it can be said that static and dynamic core exercises not only lead to improvements on swimming anthropometric variables and motor skills of swimming athletes but also have influence on the swimming performance.
