Evaluation of waterfront recreational areas according to AHP technique

Natural resources, which play an important role in development of our country as in the world, should be used considering the sustainability approach. The most appropriate land uses should be determined for these areas. Land use planning should be conducted by determining the most appropriate land use criteria in order to prevent the misuse and inaccurate usages. In this study, to determine the rational suitability for the Yamula Dam Environment in Kayseri Province and Kuşçu Settlement and its surroundings, the evaluation criteria for slope, erosion, elevation, plant presence, proximity to water presence and transportation were produced. Analytical hierarchy process method was used for the conformity analysis. Analyses were conducted using the Geographical Information Systems according to the determined eligibility criteria. In this study, it is aimed to determine the suitable areas for recreation in the research area, to prevent misuse and to provide economic and ecological sustainability. The results are intended to be used in different researches to be conducted in the future and to construct a database for local governments. According to the results of the analysis, 23 ha of the area is suitable for I. degree, 26 ha of II. degree is appropriate, 8 ha III. degree and the conformity analysis map was prepared in GIS platform.
