Süleymaniye'de (Irak) Osmanlı Dönemi mimarisinin korunması

Sulaymaniyah (Arabic: السليمانية‎, as-Sulaymāniyyah), also called Slemani, is an old city in the east of Iraq, close to the Iran border, which consists of several layers of historical remains, the oldest one is found the recent years which is (10,000) years old, and then it was used as a location for the Assyrians, and later as an area of the Safavid Empire and Ottoman Empire. The historical civic architecture of the area consists of simple materials and buildings which can be considered as a vernacular architectural heritage. In the recent years, the architectural heritage inside of the historical city center is continuously getting demolished because there are some unconscious interventions such as the expansion buildings of the new shopping centers. The aim of this thesis is to examine the conservation concepts of unique historical richness of the historical city center of the old town of Sulaymaniyah in Iraq, for the future generations. Thus, study will include the investigation of the architectural heritage that needs conservation projects in private, and also the examination of the remnants together with Literature review of the different layers of the old city in old documents.
