Süleymaniye Lıbrary 34 Sü - Tarlan / No. 182 Poetry Journal: Review - transcription - glossary

Journals which are evaluated as the assistive resources of literature history has great importance for the Classical Turkish literature. Detecting the art and literature taste of the era and obtaining concrete information is much easier via journals. In this study, a poetry journal recorded with 34 SÜ TARLAN/182 archive number, which was written in the 18th Century, was analyzed. 286 poems belonging to poets who lived between 16th and 18th centuries were included in the study. The journal in question contains ghazels especially penned by poets like Bâkî, Dâniş Efendi, Nazîm, Vecdî and Âdem. Some of those ghazels do not appear or they show some dissimilarities in poets' published divans. The journal also includes poetic forms such as Ballad, Nazim and Pentastich composed at various modes. The aim in this thesis study is to introduce a journal and reveal its content. In the study which consists of two sections, firstly, physical properties of the journal and its content were elaborated on; prosody and poetic forms were shown with tables. In the second part, the journal was transcribed; the works of the poets referred in the journal, whose divans could be attained, were compared with the ones in the journal; and copy differences were referred in the footnote. In the end of the study, a small-volume glossary, which also defines the musical modes used in the text, was placed.
