Abstract (EN)

The removal of organic pollutants from waste waters produced by industrial plants become important due to their damage to environment and energy costs. Traditional methods, such as adsorption and precipitation, have high operating costs, and other secondary pollutants may occur in these processes. Alternatively, the photocatalytic degradation method reduces both energy costs and provides more efficient removal. A new class of functional materials, coordination polymers, or metal-organic frameworks (MOF), has opened a new gate in the field of photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants. However, the studies carried out so far are at the beginning and need to be developed. 4,4'-Sulfonyldibenzoate (sdba2-) is a ligand has two oxygen atoms in the two carboxylic acid groups and two oxygen atoms in the sulfonyl group and it can be donate its oxygen atoms to give coordination polymers. Within the scope of the project, the mixed ligand coordination polymers will be synthesized by the hydrothermal method by the reaction of two new Cd(II) metal ions with the bis (imidazole) derivatives (1,4-bis((2-ethyl-1H-imidazole-1-yl)methyl)benzene (pbetix) and 1,4-bis((2-isopropyl-1H-imidazole-1-yl)methyl)benzene) (pbisopix) containing the ethyl and isopropyl group as co-ligand and the 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoate ligand as the anionic ligand. The compouds will be characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and X-rays single crystal studies. The closed formula of complexes are determined as {[Cd(sdba)(pbetix)]n} (1) ve {[Cd2(sdba)2(pbisobix)]·2H2O}n (2) . Thermal properties of complexes (TG, DTA) and photoluminescence properties will be determined. It is aimed to examine the catalytic activity of synthesized coordination polymers for photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange and methylene blue dyestuff compounds in the textile industry. Complex 1 and complex 2 decomposes 74.15% and 69.22% of methyl orange for 180 min., respectively. For methylene blue solution, degradation is 52.57% and 57.29% for 180 min., respectively.
