The role of non-governmental organizations in the solution of integration problems of Syrian migrants: The case of Ankara province

Due to the internal turmoil that started in Syria in 2011, millions of Syrian immigrants had to migrate to Turkey. In the first years of the migration process, the expectation that the causes of migration will be resolved in the short term, Syrian migrants are "temporary, guest, etc." caused the perception that it was however, the inability to provide an environment of peace and security that will allow the return of Syrian immigrants to their countries has caused the length of stay in Turkey to be prolonged and entered a process that has evolved from "temporary to permanent". For this reason, it is of greater importance for the future of both Turkey and Syria to solve the problems faced by Syrian immigrants who face many problems during the migration process and to carry out the post-migration adaptation studies in a healthy way. In this research, by examining the problems faced by Syrian immigrants residing in Ankara during the integration process and the role of non-governmental organizations in solving these problems; It is aimed to present suggestions for the solution of compliance problems. Mixed research method was used in the research. Quantitative data of the study were obtained from Syrian immigrants residing in Ankara, and qualitative data were obtained from non-governmental organizations working in the field of migration in Ankara. The quantitative data obtained from the research were analyzed using the SPSS program and the qualitative data were analyzed using the Nvivo program. As a result of the analysis of the findings within the scope of the research, non-governmental organizations, mediation, consultancy, resource management, advocacy etc. assuming social work roles and duties; Social acceptance and living together, accommodation, basic needs, working life, education, health, communication, legal status, discrimination and social exclusion, etc. It has been determined that it is an important actor that contributes positively to the harmonization process by solving the problems encountered in the fields.
