Liquid crystals and general properties, synthesis of liquid crystals and applications

In this study, we investigate liquid crystals, general properties of liquid crystals and types of liquid crystals depending upon temperature and concentration which are reasons of existence of liquid crystals. We emphasize the conditions under which thermotropic and lyotropic crystals, classified as liquid crystals, represents properties of liquid crystals. We mention about general structure of smectic, nematic and cholesteric phase of thermotropic liquid crysatals and differences between these structures. Additionally, we investigate sunthesis of liquid crystals, chemical and physical structures of liquid crystals, recent application fields of them and technology mostly applied on in display industry, LCD technology.
