One of the İstanbul journals,Basîret,in Tanzimat period(1870)(Evaluati̇on- Index)

One of the important journal of the Tanzimat period Basîret, aimed to announce the problems that the country facing to the public, to narrate the external events as well as internal events, to the readers and to narrate the improvements from neighbour countries with their inventions and increasingly became one of the most selling journals. When looking at the news of the first year 1870, of Basîret Journal, it is a observed that a language and a style the public could understand used in the journal. Especially, public events within the country, domestic disturbances, Ottoman Empire's foreign policy, reflections of the war between Germany and France within the country, Cretan rebellion, Egyptian issue, internal and external policies of the countries such as Russia, England, America, İtaly and Spain were mentioned. As in recent Journals, internal and external events had been followed closely. It was also mentioned widely that the country's health, education and technological improvements and announcements and advertisements about city life of Istanbul.
