From the newspapers of İstanbul in Tanzimat Period the newspaper Basiret (1872) (Assessment-i̇ndex)

Basîret newspaper, which was expressed its mission in the best way with its statement that "Menâfies-i Vataniyye and the air of the nation is the nation's newspaper", tried to include news both inside and outside the country. Basiret, in the third year of publication, in 1872, have been conveyed to the readers the news day by day; which especially the earthquake in Antakya, the negotiations in Berlin, the railway- lines construction, the famine in Anatolia and Iran, the floods events with drought, the cholera, the smallpox and the similar diseases, the reforms made, the matter of Alabama, the some issues about Istanbul. In addition, through news reporters from the cities, which from some news agencies, have been transferred to the public via telegrams and letters. Newspaper can be aims to influence public opinion with remarkable comments and insights. With this study, in addition to the mentioned year and subjects, both in the Ottoman Empire and in the world in the economic, social, political, educational, military and health areas have been attempted to be determined the developments and changes. For this reason, containing copies of Basîret Newspaper in the year 1872 (558-807) that were published were screened.
