Kütahya Madrasahs in the post-Tanzimat period

Özet (EN)

Madrasahs are the most important and systematic Islamic Education Foundations which participates in the last-millenium-duration. These institutions has lived their greatest and smartest terms in the Ottoman State, following the Seldjuk and Anatolian Seldjuk State. In this study, during the Post-Tanzimat Period which expresses last century of the Ottoman State, madrassahs in an Ottoman classical city Kütahya, has been a centre of Anatolian Province for long years, has been identified in a well-rounded way on the basis of both their physical-architectural facilities and their education-teaching activities. In our study, totally 35 madrasahs were introduced. Four of these madrasahs from the Germiyanoğulları Period, 16 of them are Classical Period, and 15 of them are the Post Tanzimat Period have actively serviced and all carried their duties till 1924. They are generally named with their agents and they mostly have been built as a single structure. Vacidiye Madrasah is still sounded as a museum, İshak Fakih and Rüstem Paşa Madrasahs' repairing and restoration have been completed. Other madrasahs were nearly completely collapsed.
