Abstract (EN)
The settlements have important values in terms of archeological, architectural, historical, scientific, aesthetic, socio-cultural and ecological aspects. The historicalenvironments that make up the urban identity provideimportant places that provide users with the comfort of contemporary living under today's conditions andstrengthening social communication by adding value to theurban fabric in terms of cultural, aesthetic, recreational, touristic and economic aspects. It is important that these areasinteracting with the city should not be considered as a separatepart of the city but as a whole. Open and green spaces, greenroads, roads and corridors formed by the surrounding areas, pedestrian zones and the passage of rivers are considered as urban corridors. These corridors are the elements that createopen spaces for recreational uses for human needs, protectnatural resources and provide the right development within theurban fabric by connecting with other usage areas in the city. In this study, the concepts of historical environment, protection and planning of historical environments, corridorand urban corridor have been put forward. Spatial analysis of urban corridors was carried out by considering natural, urban spatial and socio- cultural characteristic in Ankara- Hamamönü, which was determined as a research area. Thespatial characteristics of the urban corridors were emphasizedand a questionnaire was applied to the users. As a result , theurban corridors determined in Ankara- Hamamönü wereexamined from a spatial point of view and their contributionsto the research area in terms of urban life standard, urban function and urban quality characteristics were revealed.
