Abstract (EN)

Historical environments - losing their authentic, natural and cultural features as a result of rapid change in physical environment, being replaced with nothing else when disappearing, and clearing up future - have an important place in landscape architecture studies as well as many fields of occupation and have to be appreciated. In this thesis, we focus on introduction and protection of historical environments and suggest that they be appreciated with regards to landscape architecture and also present samples of historical environments both in Trabzon and the world. For historical urban fabric of Kanuni yard Ortahisar district Trabzon, planting design proposals are brought forward benefiting from planting techniques and closure forms. The aim is to determine how beneficiaries appreciate these suggestions which generate from different design approaches, and design approaches in conjunction with appreciations are supposed to enhance current space and its usage level.According to results obtained from studies, it is determined that beneficiaries do not prefer workspace as part of historical environment, consider it insufficient in terms of landscape design, and that beneficiaries ask for rather partly closed and closed area approaches of planting design strategies.
