Evaluation of Historical Tas Han (Kahramanmaras) in the refunctioning

The monumental structures that need to be preserved cannot meet the needs of the age due to technological developments and changing conditions. As a natural result of this change, historical buildings cannot be used because they cannot respond to needs. For the full preservation of monumental structures; It is quite important to integrate the building into life and turn it into living spaces. Re-functioning is an important approach for the inclusion of historical structures in life. In the re-functioning of historical buildings while preserving their original state; economic, social, environmental, historical and cultural reasons should be considered. There must be an optimal level of compatibility between the requirements of the new function of the building and its users. The compatibility between the new function and the old function will determine the performance levels of the structure. After the re- functioning of historical structures, it is very important to determine the performance of these places in terms of user satisfaction, to reveal the pros and cons, and to evaluate the historical structure and its surroundings. To determine the performance levels of historical buildings; Evaluation in Reuse Process is a suitable technique. There are 5 inns in the central district of Kahramanmaraş province. Taş Han is the ace one that has survived to the present day and preserves its authenticity in these 5 inns. With this thesis, the architectural setup of Taş Han and its changes from past to present have been documented and emphasized with photographs, oral and written sources; In addition, the technical, functional and behavioral performance levels of the building were evaluated by applying a questionnaire on users. In line with the results of this survey; During the reuse process of the building, performance levels and current problems were determined, and the positive and negative results that emerged after the reuse of the building were revealed.
