Attila Ilhan's approach to cultural policies in the period of one party

In the study, the approach of Atilla İlhan who is one of the important intellectuals and writers of the Republican Period to the cultural policies made regarding the period of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and İsmet İnönü period is emphasized. In addition, when the definition of culture and the cultural revolutions are examined together, it is the founding philosophy and political regime of the state that comes to the fore. Because all revolutions are made to consolidate the power of the political regime. When we look at the Single Party period, the new Turkish state, which was established with the success of the National Struggle, first clarified its political regime and declared the Republic. The years of institutionalization that followed were the revolutions that strengthened and supported this political regime. The cultural policies of the single-party period and Atilla İlhan's approach to these policies were examined through the nation-state building process. The method of implementation of the cultural revolutions and the grounding of the revolutions are explained by associating them with the founding philosophy and institutionalization process of the Republic of Turkey. Atilla İlhan focused on issues such as east-west cultural differences, nationalism, language, and history in his approach to cultural policies in the single-party period. This situation is also considered as a dominant point of view throughout the study. For Atilla İlhan, innovation and originality are important in terms of the concept of synthesis within the framework of cultural policies. The concept of synthesis is a subject that has been discussed in cultural life for a long time and is given importance by Turkish intellectuals. The concept of synthesis came to the fore in the evaluation of all cultural policies that came to the fore in the Westernization process that emerged especially after the Tanzimat period. In the study, how the single-party period cultural revolutions were handled and the relationship between the two periods were examined by paying attention to the concept of synthesis.
