Foundation of society and management at Thomas Hobbes and John Locke

Political philosophy, as one of the main branches of philosophy, has been a field dominated by intense debates in terms of the relationship between society and administration. Thomas Hobbes and John Locke are the main philosophers who focus on the relationship between society and management in political philosophy. The main subject of our study is to comprehend the basic concepts of Hobbes and Locke within the framework of their understanding of society and administration, to explain these concepts and compare their views. The understanding of management is shaped by the environmental factors that people live in and other people. Accordingly, in the first chapter, the events that took place in England during the period when Thomas Hobbes lived are mentioned. In the continuation, Hobbes' description of human nature, the state of nature, the insecurity of the person in the state of nature, the relationship between the law of nature and reason, natural right, society formed by contract, freedom and property along with the understanding of society and management are depicted. In the second part, it is explained how Locke expresses his point of view at the same concepts by talking about the events he was influenced by like Hobbes. In the third chapter, how T. Hobbes and J. Locke explain the concepts that form the basis of their understanding of politics will be compared. Keywords: State of nature, insecurity, contract, freedom, property
