Abstract (EN)

Evaluation of the Symptoms Experienced and Well-Being by Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted on November 22, 2024 and March 15, 2025 to evaluate the symptoms experienced and well-being by individuals with diabetes. The sample of the study consisted of 106 diabetic patients. The patient information form, Diabetes Symptoms Checklist Scale and WHO-5 Well-being Index were used to collect the research data. The statistical evaluation of the obtained data was done in a computer environment with SPSS 22.0 package program. The total mean score of WHO-5 Well-being Index was 57.81±15.15. When the total and sub-dimension score averages of the Diabetes Symptoms Checklist Scale were evaluated, the total score average was 1.25±0.69; the "neurology" sub-dimension score average was 1.21±1.09; the "psychology/fatigue" sub-dimension score average was 1.35±0.98; the "cardiology" sub-dimension score average was 1.03±0.75; the "ophthalmology" sub-dimension score average was 0.91±0.97; the "psychology/cognitive" sub-dimension score average was 1.17±0.95; and the "hyperglycemia" sub-dimension score average was 2.20±1.22. When the relationship between the WHO-5 Well-Being Index and the total and sub-dimensions of the Diabetes Symptoms Checklist Scale was evaluated, it was determined that there was a positive and significant relationship between the total and sub-dimensions of the Diabetes Symptoms Checklist Scale (p<0.05). It was determined that individuals experienced mild symptoms related to diabetes and their well-being was at a moderate level. As the symptom burden experienced by diabetic individuals increased, their well-being decreased. In conclusion, it is recommended that diabetic individuals be evaluated holistically.
