Abstract (EN)
This research goes beyond today's increasing divorce rates and addresses the emergence of not being able to getting married as a social problem area. While it has been a known fact for years that the family is the foundation block of society, this study has been put forward in an effort to understand how the inability of getting married affects the foundation blocks of society and to analyze this from a social work perspective. The research focused on understanding the participants' perceptions of the concepts of marriage and family, their reasons for not getting married, and their expectations from marriage. The findings obtained are used in order to conduct new studies with broader perspectives on marriage and family; It may be a guide for experts who want to understand the changing dynamics of the family and carry out the necessary professional studies on the issue of inability to get married as an emerging new social problem. The study was conducted as a qualitative research with a phenomenological design and in the study observation and interview techniques were used. The population of the study consists of single individuals aged 30 and above who are not married and have an education level above high school; The study group consists of 13 single individuals living in Bandırma district, aged 30 and over, without any marriage experience in their past, and with an education level above high school. MAXQDA, a qualitative data analysis program, was used to code the data obtained from the study.
