Abstract (EN)

This study will explore the concept of gender and the discriminatory impact of the patriarchal system on women. It will examine the role of women's rights achievements within feminist theory and trace their development across the various feminist waves. The primary focus of the thesis will be the issue of equality and difference between individuals, addressing the inequalities faced by both women and men in public and private spheres, as well as the barriers to equal participation in these areas. The argument will be made that both genders should be regarded as equal in terms of rights, freedom, and responsibility. Additionally, this paper examine on the based need to raise social awareness and consciousness regarding these issues within the framework of feminist theory, how the patriarchal system has historically subjected women, make them face challenges such as education and economic dependency accessibility limitations. The study will also highlight the necessity of overcoming the embedded feelings of worthlessness and dependency that women have absorded, which have been perpetuated by the deeply ingrained patriarchal system. Lastly, it will debate that achieving gender equality requires women to have equal rights and opportunities in both the public and private areas. To support this argument, the visibility of women's needs will be illustrated through the case of Nezihe Muhiddin, a significant figure in Turkish history who represents the evolving struggle for rights and equality.
