Abstract (EN)
In this study, saponifiable and unsaponifiable matters on Abies cilicica colophony are detected and various chemical analysis are conducted on A. cilicica resin. These chemical analysis are determination of resin impurity, acid number, moisture content and turpentine oil content. Resin samples used in the study are supplied from Vayvalı village of Mersin, Erdemli which has an altitude of 1400-1700. The samples are collected among the snow on December and January. As the result of the experiments, colophony amount of A. cilicica resin is found to be 91,2 % while it had a turpentine amount of 13,9 %. On the other hand, moisture content and impurity content of the samples were 1,19 % and 1,98 %, respectively. Acid number is calculated by considering these two factors (resin moisture content and impurity content) as 116,40. For the separation of turpentine and colophony, method of hydrodistillation is used. Turpentine is diluted to conduct FID-GC and GC-MS analysis for determination of volatile matter. At the end of the analysis, A.cilicica resin turpentine is found to include mainly α-Pinene(81,2%) and β-Pinene(12,6%), together with 53 more compounds. Saponifiable and unsaponifiable matter determination results revealed 18 saponifiable and 17 unsaponifiable matters. Main compounds for saponifiable matters are identified as Abietic acid(33,8%) and Neoabietic acid(27,3%) while majority of unsaponifiable matters included Abieta-8(14),9(11),12-triene and 4,4-Dimethyl-3-(3-methyl-3-buten-1-yliden)-2-methylidenbicyclo[4.1.0]heptane.
