Abstract (EN)

East part of the Black Sea Region, which is most precipitation region in our Country, exhibits highly susceptible to the formation of mass movement beacuse of having very step slopes. In this research, stability of right and left slopes of lake field of the Dam Torul have been investigated from the Engineering Geological point of view.By preparing a 1/10.000 scale geological map of round of the Dam of Torul, lithostratigraphic units were seperated from oldest to youngest as follows; Çağlayan Formation (Upper Cretaceous), Sarıosman Monzogranite (Upper Cretaceous ?), Mandızlı Dacite (Upper Cretaceous ?), Slope debris (Quaternary) and alluvium (Quaternary). In order to determine the engineering the characteristics of soil in the slopes where the stability calculations were carried out via laboratory experiments of soil samples index properties, grain distribution, clay types, internal friction angle and cohesion have been indicated.Geological seetions of the slopes have been prepared, passible slip surfaces have been indicated, security factors have been determined mading stability calculations computer -aided so far as simplified Bishop and Janbu methods using soil engineering properties.
