Abstract (EN)

The Effect of Different Training Programs on the Anxiety and Pain Levels of Patients Before Total Hip Arthroplasty Surgery. Surgery is known to be a source of pain and anxiety in itself. Many different methods aimed at finding solutions to the pain and anxiety issues that arise in patients who are scheduled to undergo surgery are being investigated. Informing patients is also one of these methods. This study was planned semi-experimentally to determine the effect of different training programs on pain and anxiety in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Between April 2018 and December 2018, individuals who were in the Kırklareli State Hospital Orthopaedic Clinic for the purpose of total hip arthroplasty surgery, and 90 voluntary patient individuals whose sample met the research criteria and the purpose of the study was explained and the permission was established. The questionnaire, visual pain Assessment Scale (VAS) and situational-continuity Anxiety Scale were used for data collection purposes. 1 in 30 patients who were given routine pre-operative training the day before surgery. 2 of the 30 patients who were given service training along with routine pre-operative training. training group, routine preoperative training and service training as well as operating room training 30 patients 3. he formed the training group. The NCSS 2007 program for statistical analyses was conducted using descriptive statistics and parametric tests during the analysis phase of the data. 1. the change in post-operative anxiety scores was not statistically significant in the group compared to before the surgery (p=0.113; p>0.05). 2. in the group, 9.13±8.43 decrease in post-operative condition anxiety scores was statistically significant compared to before surgery (p=0.001; p<0.01). 3. in the group, the decrease in post-operative anxiety scores of 14.37±8.62 was statistically significant (p=0.001; p<0.01). 1 given routine pre-operative training.the mean 3.40±3.50 increase in VAS scores was statistically significant in the group compared to before the surgery (p=0.001; p<0.01). 2. the change in VAS scores after the surgery was not statistically significant compared to before the surgery (p=0.203; p>0.05). 3. in the group, the decrease of 0.80±1.92 in VAS scores after surgery was statistically significant compared to before surgery (p=0.047; p<0.05). In conclusion, it was found that informing patients in the pre-surgical period had a positive effect on pain and anxiety, and the best results were in the group of patients in which surgery and operating room information was performed, unlike other groups. This result; it suggests that training given to patients before surgery should be improved, and that, in particular, surgery and operating room information should be added to training. Key Words: Anxiety, pain, preoperative education, total hip arthroplasty surgery.
