The analysis of hydroelectric potential in trabzon region

Energy is a strategic subject that has a big content, deepness and lots of branches. In today?s world basis of the sustainable development and economical stability have been passing from the effective and environmental sensitive energy politics. Both developed and developing countries must have an energy politics for the future progresses.The main goal of our country's energy policies is to ensure cheap and high quality energy supporting the social and economical developments safely and on time. In the frame of these policies, making use of national sources utmost and increasing the government, private sector and foreign investments on energy field are important studies that have to be made.The study, consist of seven chapters and appendices. In the first chapter of the study, general knowledge about energy sources and the cost of electric production with its potentials, advantages and disadvantages as well as a general literature are presented. In the second chapter, gross hydroelectric energy potentials existing in Trabzon region is calculated. In the third chapter, for each 5 years period between 2005 - 2100, the electric energy consumptions in the regions is forecasted, all the gross hydroelectric energy potential is computed, the electric energy consumption meeting rations and interconnected electric energy quantities that will be processed into the system are calculated. Moreover, the evaluation studies of hydroelectric potential in the region are compared with obtained results. In the fourth chapter, the results of the study are listed. Fifth, sixth and seventh chapters includes recommendations, references and appendices respectively.This study shows that, the gross hydroelectric potential in Trabzon region is not fully used, even with the projects evolved by DSİ and other establishments, only %48 of the potentials will be able to be used.
