Investigations on ornamental pest insect species in Trabzon

Abstract (EN)
In this study, pest insect species and pest status were determined on Ornamental in the parks and gardens of City of Trabzon. Field study was carried out at 10 stations from 1st of March to 30th of November 1997. Insect materials obtained from Ornamental species were transfered to the laboratory. Biological features and pest status were described on adult insect and larvae reared in boxes. Thirty two pest insect species belonging to Hemiptera, Homoptera, Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera orders were indetified in 21 various family. Ninenteen species of them belong to Homoptera in 8 family. It is concluded that it is necessary to control pest insect species damaging beauty and integrity of parks and gardens, although owners have not been effected economically.
