Abstract (EN)

The preservation and maintenance of the historical environment is regarded as an indicator of the architectural, technical and aesthetic maturity of the society as well as ensuring the continuity of the culture. Bath buildings in the historical environment serve the bathing culture and are also accepted as cultural assets thanks to their special schemes and construction techniques. The changing lifestyle and speed of our age also affect and change the bathing culture. Bath structures serving this culture lose their former function and importance over time and face the danger of collapse. The bath buildings that are abandoned or used for improper purposes cause the historical environment to become unqualified. Bath structures, which are important in transferring the bathing culture to the future, are not fully understood and adopted as a cultural heritage. This study, which was put forward with the aim of contributing to the adaptation of today's conditions and transferring the bathing culture to future generations by highlighting the qualities of the bath buildings, is limited to the Hasan Pasha (Military) Bath in the İnönü District of Trabzon. This work; It consists of determining the concepts, examining the determined sample and evaluation stages. In the first part of the study, the purpose and method of the study, the definition of the bath buildings, their historical development and architectural features are examined in chronological level. By mentioning the preservation process, information was given about reuse, which is referred to as the subheading of protection. In the second part, the building survey study was completed by analytical documentation of Hasan Pasha (Military) Bath, which was chosen as the study area. The types of damage seen in the building and its causes were examined. In the third chapter, a typological analogy has been used to create a base for restitution studies. Periodic restitution studies were carried out in line with the literature review about the bath and the data obtained from the typological analogy. Restoration decisions were taken to improve the condition of the bath building and to make it functional. All these studies were evaluated and concluded. The study aims to constitute a role model in understanding the value of bath buildings and ensuring sustainability in transferring the bathing culture to future generations.
