Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the design principles of roundabouts are discussed and the Terminal junction in Trabzon, which is operated as a signalized roundabout, is analyzed in terms of traffic management. In the first part of the study, 12-hour traffic data were obtained. Analyzes were made with the data of the time period with the highest traffic volume. The current situation is modeled in PTV VISSIM simulation software. After entering the traffic data and signaling information of the intersection into the software, the driver behavior parameters of the Wiedemann 74 car following model were changed and the car following model was calibrated. Using PTV VISSIM; signalized intersection, signalized intersection with left turn pocket and intersection with underpess designs were made and each intersection type was analyzed with 75, 90, 105 and 120 sec cycle times. As a result of the study, it was observed that the signalized roundabout design could not provide adequate performance in terms of average vehicle delays, average queue lenght and emission parameters. Parking, stops and the South approach have a significant impact on the intersection. It has been stated that the performance criteria of the left turn pocketed signalized intersection design are better.
